When a patient is seen in the hospital on 7/2/10 and a consult is done, the pt is discharged and readmitted on 7/20/10 for an exacerbation of the problem we treated them for on 7/2/2010; Even though we were requested to see the patient would we charge another consult for same dx or would this be a subsequent visit for the second admitt.

To quote Woody Allen- Take the money and run! Jut be sure the consult is not "see my previous consult"

Think about the medical necessity for the level of service: do you need a second high level consult? Might a lower level consult be appropriate?

But, yes, a consult.
